Last October, the Estonian pilot plant (Demo) was started at the Viimsi Water Treatment Plant, thus initiating the tasks of validation and operation of the pilot plant.
The technological scheme consisted of aeration column, the Hydrous Manganese Oxide oxidation tank, and filtration columns that may be packed with different filtration materials. The efficiency of the filter materials as sand and zeolite, is studied in the project.
The pilot plant is designed in order to remove Ra-226, Ra-228 and the other water constituents under the regulation concurrently presented in the water. The pilot plant will be operating in the Viimsi Water Treatment Plant during the next two years.
